Chegando a Bangkok, apanhar um voo barato para o Cambodja é tarefa simples. Chegando a Siem Reap, encontrar um bom condutor de tuk tuk para andar contigo uns dias pode ser alternativa assim como podes alugar bicicleta para explorares a zona. Do que mais me lembro destes dias para além do conjunto impressionante de templos era o calor e que a dada altura numa das paragens dos trajectos de tuk tuk uma rapariga local se vira para mim e pergunta se eu não tinha frio por estar de calções e t-shirt. Ela estava toda encasacada e ao que parece por ali trinta e poucos graus, era frio comparado com os picos de calor do verão. Foram dois dias a viver o pasmar que o Indiana Jones devia sentir sempre que encontrava um artefacto ou local arqueológico digno das mais incríveis aventuras.
Provavelmente um dos templos que mais me fascinou foi Ta Prohm que em Khmer se escreve ប្រាសាទតាព្រហ្ម. Construído no estilo Bayon no final do século XII e início do século XIII, e originalmente chamado Rajavihara,Ta Prohm faz parte do complexo de templos construídos na zona de Angkor, a antiga capital do Império khmer durante a sua época de esplendor, entre os séculos IX e XV, foi fundado como um mosteiro Budista Mahayana e universidade pelo rei Khmer Jayavarman VII, que reinou de 1181 a 1220.
O curioso neste templo é que Ta Prohm foi deixado em grande parte na mesma condição em que foi encontrado e hoje temos árvores que crescem a partir das ruínas e da selva envolvente. Enquanto percorria os labirínticos corredores do templo passei por esta criança local com um molhe de ervas na mão que contemplava fixamente os turistas que iam passando de quando a quando.

What I remember most about these days apart from the impressive set of temples was the heat and that at one point at one of the stops on the tuk tuk routes a local girl turns to me and asks if I was not cold because I was wearing shorts and t- shirt. She was all trapped and apparently over thirty degrees, it was cold compared to the summer heat peaks. It was two days of experiencing the amazement that Indiana Jones must feel whenever he found an artifact or archaeological site worthy of the most incredible adventures. Probably one of the temples that most fascinated me was Ta Prohm which in Khmer is written ប្រាសាទតាព្រហ្ម. Built in the Bayon style in the late 12th and early 13th centuries, and originally called Rajavihara.Ta Prohm is part of the temple complex built in the area of Angkor, the ancient capital of the Khmer Empire during its time of splendor, between the centuries IX and XV, it was founded as a Mahayana Buddhist monastery and university by King Khmer Jayavarman VII, who reigned from 1181 to 1220. The curious thing about this temple is that Ta Prohm was left largely in the same condition in which it was found and today we have trees that grow from the ruins and the surrounding jungle. While walking through the labyrinthine corridors of the temple, I passed this local child with a bunch of herbs in his hand that gazed steadily at the tourists who passed by from time to time.
