"Os "máscaros" de Vila Boa saem à rua no Dia de Carnaval, juntamente com as “madamas” e “marafonos” que percorrem as ruas da aldeia e fazem as suas habituais tropelias. O dia termina com a "galhofa" e um baile tradicional. Os Caretos continuam com os seus rituais, atuam em regra em pequenos grupos que, dispersos por diferentes locais, acabam por tomar conta da aldeia à procura das suas vítimas, as moças solteiras."
